Renovating an old house can at times be very energy consuming and tiring. Although we do so much all the time, it's still so much left to do. We paint, we build, we decorate and we clean but still it feels like the house is not really complete. But, then of course, the entire surface of the house is about 240 square meters, so no wonder why it takes some time. In addition, basically everything in the house has been rebuilt from the ground so considering this, I'm actually quite surprised that we have come this far in such a short time. But as I mentioned earlier, it does takes the energy away from you sometimes and when that happens, it's important to allow yourself to take a break from it all, maybe have a breakdown, and then move on with some new energy. And what better way to regain some energy, than to take the bike and ride to the local bar and cool yourself off with a tropical drink? Warm evenings, a World Heritage city in Southeast Asia and a coconut drink with a pink umbrella, that is our energy boost for the moment.
Fika
To have a break during the day and sit down with friends, family or colleagues and together enjoy some coffee (kaffe) and pastries (fikabröd), that is the meaning of the word fika. For Swedes, the fika breaks (fikapaus) are the most important part of the day and of the Swedish culture.
