Making curtains

Eftersom vårt vardagsrum, matplats och courtyard just nu bara är ett stort öppet rum bestämde vi oss för att sätta upp gardinlängder som avdelare mellan vardagsrum och courtyard. Dels så blir det lite mysigare och mer ombonat med lite textilier, men det blir också svalare de dagar då vi vill använda oss utav aircon eftersom vi då kan dra igen gardinerna så att den svalare luften inte försvinner ut i vår courtyard.

Since our living room, dining area and courtyard is just a big open space, we decided to put up curtains as dividers between the living area and courtyard. Fabric as interior always makes a house looks a bit cozier and warmer but in this case it also saves us a lot of energy during those days when we want to use the air-conditioner, because the curtain will prevent the cooler air from going out into the air well in the courtyard.

Tyget hittade vi i en textilaffär här i Penang. Vi valde ett ganska tunnt tyg för att få ett luftig och lätt intryck, utan att vara allför genomskinligt. Det var ganska många meter tyg som krävdes för att kunna avdela hela vardagsrummet och courtyarden men med det tunna tyget som vi valde blev känslan ändå väldigt stilren och luftig. Vi valde en beige ton på tyget eftersom mörka färger drar till sig mycket mygg här i tropikerna.     

We found the fabric in a textile shop here in Penang. We chose a fairly thin fabric to get an airy and light impression, but without being too transparent. We needed quite a lot of fabric to be able to divide the whole living room and the courtyard, but with this thin fabric that we chose the feeling is still very airy and quite stylish. We chose a beige tone of the fabric because dark colors attract a lot of mosquitoes here in the tropics.
