Det blir lite dåligt med skrivande nu när jag är hemma i Sverige. Har det ju så himla mysigt med familj och vänner, och passar på att lägga all tid till att umgås med de nära och kära den korta tid som jag är hemma i Sverige. För er som bor i Sverige, blir detta blogginlägg inte särskilt spännande men för alla er läsare som aldrig har varit i Sverige, ville jag visa några bilder om hur husen i Sverige kan se ut. Alla bilder är tagna från min hemstad Kristinehamn.
It's a bit quiet here on the blog now that I'm back home in Sweden. I'm so enjoying being back here with my family and friends, and I want to take the opportunity to spend all my time with my loved ones during this short stay in Sweden. For those of you who live in Sweden, this blog post won't be too exciting but I wanted to show for all you readers who have never been to Sweden, how a typical Swedish living, could look like. All photos are taken from my hometown Kristinehamn.
Swedish houses are usually very colorful and they are often made out of wood, since Sweden has a lot of forest. The corners of the houses are usually painted in a different color than the color of the facade and most likely that color is white, as you can see on this grey house. The red house in the background has instead corners painted in a darker color than the facade.
Swedes like to plant a lot of flowers and bushes in their gardens. Swedes usually adore summer, nature, plants and flowers because we don't get to see any of that during our long and dark winters. Perhaps that is also the reason why Swedes like to paint their houses very colorful. It would be quite depressing if we didn't get to see any color during the long winter.
In contrary to houses in Malaysia, Swedish houses don't have high fences
or walls around the houses. It is usually wide open for anyone to enter
the garden. Safety is not that big of an issue in Sweden, as it is in
Malaysia. It is common to have a very low wooden fence around the house,
but those fences are purely for decoration, not for security reasons.
A very common housing neighbourhood in a small town like Kristinehamn.
Pavement roads are always located at both sides of the streets in
Sweden. Swedish people enjoy walking a lot.
Some houses are smaller than others. The living area of a house in
Sweden is normally smaller than in Malaysia. Our apartments are also
much smaller than the apartments in Malaysia. We also live with fewer
people since parents and grandparents always live in their own houses.
And some houses are really small! This is a very cute play house for the kids.
The gardens in Sweden are usually very big and people love to grow a lot of fruit trees and vegetables in their gardens.
Right now is apple season in Sweden.
This is a big house that has a few apartments inside for rent. My sister and brother used to live here before.
This is another apartment building in Kristinehamn. Many of the buildings here are not higher than three storeys.
The old saying is that if the berries on this tree are many, the winter will be very cold with lots of snow. And this year the tree is full of berries! Rowan berries is the English name of these berries. We use these berries to make jam.
Swedes love to cycle and walk. You can find this sign almost everywhere around the town.
