Living room sneak peek

Vi har knappt hunnit köpa några möbler till vårt vardagsrum än. Förutom en ny soffa, är det mesta ett ihopplock av gammalt renoveringsmaterial, loppisfynd och upphittade saker i Georgetown. Men eftersom vardagsrumsgolvet pryds av vackert klinkers och väggarna av det gamla teglet som fanns under gipsväggarna, så känns det inte som att det gör så mycket att det är lite spartanskt. Det är lite det som är tanken också med renoveringen, att detaljerna och materialet som använts ska vara det som ger huset dess charm. Och ju mer naturliga inslag som finns i huset, desto mindre möbler känns det som att det krävs för att återskapa storheten i detta shophouse.


We've barely had time to buy any furniture for our living room. Besides from a new sofa, most things are a collection of old renovation materials, flea market finds and other peoples' disposed objects in Georgetown. However, since the living room floor has beautiful tiles with patterns of earthy colors and the walls contain of the original old bricks, it doesn't really matter that much that the room is a bit spartan. That was more or less our concept from the beginning when we started the renovation, that the details and the materials used should be the highlights which gives the house its charm. And the more natural elements that are used in the house, the less furniture it takes to recreate the greatness of this shophouse.
