The first coating

Så var första strykningen av fasaden gjord. Vi valde en krämig, vit färg på fasaden. Tanken är att
fasaden ska kännas fräsch och ljus och ge ett luftigt intryck. Som kontrast till den ljusa fasaden ska fönstrena målas grafitgråa. För att framhäva detaljerna som finns i fönsterramarna och för att få fram den rätta känslan av detta gamla shophouse, kommer dessa detaljer att målas i en guldfärg. För oss är det viktigt att framhäva de detaljer som är så typiska för dessa gamla hus, samtidigt som vi vill att huset ska kännas modernt och nutid. Materialet och teknikerna som vi använder vid renoveringen är en blandning mellan nytt och gammalt. Vi vill använda så mycket återanvänt material samt gamla tekniker som vi kan, utan att behöva kompromissa ett bra och hållbart boende.


First coating of the facade is done​​. We chose a creamy white color for our facade. The idea is that the facade should feel fresh and light and give an airy feeling. In contrast to the bright facade, the windows will be painted graphite gray. To emphasize the details in the window frames and to get that true feeling of the old shophouse, a gold color will be added. For us, it is important to highlight the details that are so typical of these old houses, while at the same time creating a house that feels modern and contemporary. The materials and techniques that we use in the renovation is a mix between old and new. We want to use as much recycled material as well as old techniques as we possibly can, without sacrificing a good and sustainable living.

Medan jag målade fasaden, passade min man på att måla om en gammal brevlåda som följde med i husköpet. Brevlådan var en ful, plastig, röd sak som vi först tänkte slänga. Så kom min man på att vi kunde prova att måla om brevlådan innan vi slängde den, och det var ju tur det. Den blev ju faktiskt himla fin med lite svart färg. 

While I was painting the facade, my husband repainted an old mailbox that came with the house purchase. The mailbox was an ugly, plastic, red thing that we first wanted to throw away. Then, my husband got the idea that we could try to repaint the mailbox before throwing it. Good thing we did, because with a bit of black paint the mailbox fits just right in.
